Meet Our Founder
At age 60, after what seemed like an ordinary morning, Gary’s life changed forever. What started as severe stomach pain led to a diagnosis that would alter his path completely, a rare form of small intestinal cancer that affects less than two percent of people worldwide.
Following surgery to remove part of his intestines, Gary began an intense journey of healing. He underwent chemotherapy and multiple surgeries at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. For years, he faced treatments, recovery, and moments of uncertainty. The cancer would return several times in his liver, diaphragm, and chest wall, yet Gary never gave up hope. He chose faith over fear and perseverance over despair.
Through these challenges, Gary realized that surviving cancer was about much more than enduring the physical battle. Once the treatments ended, he found himself facing a different kind of healing, the emotional and spiritual process of rediscovering life after cancer. He recognized that while many survivors receive medical care, few are given the tools to navigate the mental and emotional transition that follows.
That understanding became his purpose. Gary founded the Cancer Survivor Foundation to help others move forward with strength and hope. The foundation provides a safe and supportive space where survivors can process their experiences, connect with others who understand, and begin building a renewed sense of self and purpose.
Through his story, Gary hopes to remind others that a cancer diagnosis is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter. His journey is a testament to the power of resilience, community, and faith, and to the belief that life after cancer can be filled with peace, joy, and new beginnings.
